This 4 week course is for total sewing beginners who want to learn the art of sewing on a standard sewing machine.
In small & friendly groups of no more than 6, we aim to give you detailed lessons of how to use a sewing machine to make basic items to gain your confidence.
The dates are:
Wednesday 16th November 2022
Wednesday 23rd November 2022
Wednesday 30th November 2022
Wednesday 7th December 2022
Don't worry if you have never set eyes (or hands) on a sewing machine before - we have plenty of machines to go round & plenty of experience to share.
From your bobbin to your foot pedal, we will teach you all the basics in the 8 hour course here at Rocket & Rose HQ in WInkleigh.
You will learn all about the machines, how to thread, sew in a straight line, sew in a curvy line & in each session you will make an item from start to finish, including cushion covers, pin cushions, lavender bags and/or a tote or a drawstring bag. You will also learn about the different fabrics & what you need to think about when sewing them & where to buy them!
Our wonderful host, Caroline will be with you every step of the way & we have refreshments on tap throughout the sessions.
We will also have fabric, trimmings & other wonderful things available to buy on the sessions, but we will provide the fabrics for the projects we set.
You are more than welcome to bring your own machine, but we would need you to bring it in a week before to PAT test.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
We also have our Sewcial Sessions every other Tuesday 1-3pm, starting from 15th November - no need to book, just turn up. For more information see:
